The Adventures of Snæfellsnes peninsula
Tuesday 28 June – Wednesday 29 June 2005
Day 1:
A 2-hour drive from Reykjavik takes us to the peninsula of Snæfellsnes . We spend the day exploring the southern part of the peninsula that is full of natural wonders. We stop for lunch and check-in at Hotel Budir. In the late afternoon we drive up to Snæfellsjökull glacier, the pride of Snæfellsnes. The glacier is 1446 meters above sea level, towering majestically at the end of the peninsula, and many people, all around the world, claim it to be one of the earth's seven energy centers. Here we will mount the glacier on snow cats and explore the beautiful view from the top. Dinner and overnight at the newly reconstructed Hotel Budir, located in majestic surroundings. The hotel has gained a reputation for its superb cuisine and unique atmosphere.
Day 2: After breakfast we drive over to the northern part of the peninsula. We make a stop at Bjarnarhöfn farm where we visit an old church and have a taste of Icelandic shark. From there we continue to the town of Stykkishólmur with its bustling fishing harbor and beautiful houses. We have lunch before taking a boat cruise (2 hrs 15 min) around the south islands of Breidafjördur bay, famous for its countless islands and abundant bird life. After the cruise we head back to Reykjavik , arriving around 19:30-20:00 .
Price: ISK 44.000 – Single room supplement: ISK 9.000
Included: Overnight at Hotel Budir, breakfast, glacier tour on snow cats (day 1), dinner (day 1), two lunches and boat cruise (day 2).

Bird Watching and the Blue Lagoon
Tuesday 28 June 2005 at 08:00-15:30
We drive to Hafnaberg, a low, sheer cliff just south of the fishing hamlet Hafnir on the Reykjanes peninsula. It's an interesting and popular spot among the bird watchers, teeming with such bird species as the guillemots, kittiwakes, fulmars, razorbills etc. The approach to the cliffs requires an approx. 40 min. walk from the main road. After the bird watching we drive along the shore to Grindavik fishing village and from there to the extraordinary Blue Lagoon, a man made oasis in the middle of the lava field. It's a by-product of modern technology, owing its existence to a nearby power plant. We start by having lunch there before we enjoy a relaxing bath in the warm, mineral rich water (water is about 38°C). A special “Blue Lagoon” cocktail (aquamarine in color like the water of the lagoon) will be served during the swim.
Price: ISK 8.900
Included: Light refreshments, lunch, entrance to the Blue Lagoon, rent of a towel and a Blue Lagoon cocktail.

Golden Circle Special
Sunday 3 July 2005 at 09:00-17:00
This tour features the essence of Iceland , including natural wonders, such as the Geysir geothermal area, where hot springs are in abundance and the most active one, Strokkur, spouts every few minutes; Gullfoss the majestic waterfall and Thingvellir National Park . During this tour geology and history are especially emphasized. At Thingvellir the oldest, still active national parliament was founded in 930. The National Park is also of great geological interest and there we can see exactly where the earth is splitting apart.
Price: ISK 7.800
Included: Lunch

Thórsmörk Nature Reserve
Sunday 3 July 2005 at 08:00-23:30
We drive along the south coast of Iceland , our first stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall. This waterfall is about 60 m high and it's relatively easy to walk all the way around it. From there we take the rugged track into the magnificent Thórsmörk ("Thor's woods") nature reserve. It's one of the most beautiful places in Iceland , situated between three glaciers (Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindafjallajökull) and surrounded by natural boundaries like mountains, ice caps and glacier rivers. For these reasons it has often been difficult to reach, limiting access to four-wheel drive vehicles which, in order to reach it, have to ford more than 20 brooks and streams. Thórsmörk is a place of breathtaking landscapes and a fauna of great variety. There we will take a short hike, enjoying the nature, and afterwards have a barbeque dinner before returning to Reykjavik .
Price: ISK 15.500
Included: Lunch box, refreshments and barbeque dinner.

Akureyri and Lake Mývatn
Sunday 3 July – Monday 4 July 2005
Day 1:
This day we drive up to the north of Iceland , through the highland, all the way to Akureyri, “the capital of the north”, stopping on the way at various places. Our first stop is at Thingvellir National Park where the oldest, still active national parliament was founded in 930. From there we continue to the Geysir area and Gullfoss waterfall. We then enter the highland and drive on the rugged road of Kjölur, arriving in the town of Blönduós and from there continuing to Akureyri. Dinner and overnight in Akureyri.
Day 2: After an early breakfast we head to Lake Mývatn . The lake and surrounding area consists of amazing geological formations, as well as being internationally renowned as a bird-watching paradise. Mývatn lies on an active volcanic belt; last eruption 1984. The whole area is an explosive moonscape of mesmerising lava formations, sulphur pits, pseudo craters, multi color pools of boiling mud and much more. After lunch we head back to Akureyri and from there continue along our way to Reykjavik . We stop for dinner on the way and return to Reykjavik late in the evening.
Price: ISK 39.700 – Single room supplement: ISK 3.500
